The first baby to be delivered in Lagos State,
Nigeria, Miss Oluwajomloju Ogundimu has undergone successful heart surgery in
India.
She was born 12:01 am on 1 January, 2015 but her
mother, a first class accountancy graduate from the University of Lagos passed
on after giving birth before the baby was diagnosed of heart related problem.
She was flown to India on 9 July, 2015 for medical
attention. But with the help of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode,
she was flown to India where she had the operation.
Little Ogundimu and her grandmother, Mrs. Ogunnoiki
Folake were at Alausa on Thursday to thank Ambode for his kind gestures.
Folake thanked Ambode and prayed God to grant him mercy and wisdom to take Lagos State to desired destination.

“I dropped my request for assistant to Governor
Ambode on Monday June 1, 2015 and he gave approval to my request by Wednesday
June 3rd, 2015. God used him for me and for this I am very grateful, so I have
come here to thank him,” she said.
She appealed to the governor to also assist the baby
to travel back to India for the next appointment, as God would reward him
dearly for rendering help to her granddaughter.
Folake called on the Lagos State and the Federal
Governments to tackle the issue of persistent strikes by medical doctors,
stressing that it was during the strikes embarked by medical doctors last year
that she lost her first daughter who gave birth to baby Odundimu.
“I appealed to them to find a way to put an end to
strikes by medical doctors to avoid the kind of death that happened to me,” she
said.
She said the cost of the initial treatment was about
N5 million.
