Students
of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye in Ogun State, have issued a fresh
seven-day ultimatum to the State government, demanding justice over the death
of some 11 students of the institution who died in a road accident.
The students died two weeks ago, along the
Sagamu-Ore road when a container fell on a bus they were in.
Their
colleagues are demanding for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the killer
driver and investigation and prosecution of government agencies for their
alleged culpability in the death of their colleagues.
They
are also asking for the prosecution of the private company whose vehicle caused
the accident and payment of 10 million Naira as compensation to each family of
the slain students by the private company.
Addressing
reporters on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the capital of the state, the President of
the Student Union of the institution, Adegbesan Adenola, said the fresh
ultimatum was a reminder of their demand to the State government.
He
demanded the full participation of the State government and the private company
in the burial arrangements of the victims.
They
threatened to sue the government and the company if their demands were not met.
