Seven dead after Hawker Hunter jet plane smashes into the ground during seaside display

Seven people have been killed today after a plane crashed onto a busy road during the Shoreham Airshow. The Second World War Hawker Hunter fighter jet was performing a loop when it smashed into the A27 and burst into a fireball.

The pilot who crashed today has been described as 'gifted'.
Andy Hill is believed to have been a British Airways captain and a top RAF pilot.
Friend David Wildridge, who flew at the airshow today, told the Mid Sussex Times: "He is a highly experience pilot, well-known and well-loved.
"He is highly professional and it is totally unusual for this too happen.
"He was a Harrier pilot in the air force. They are the top RAF pilots - the best of the best."
