The annual Pirelli Calendar, which often features some of the world’s sexiest models, decided on showcasing an entirely different group of women, selecting inspiring females from all different walks of life. Amy Schumer and the amazing Serena Williams are just two of the stars captured by famed photog Annie Leibovitz for the 2016 calendar.
“I started to think about the roles that women play, women who have achieved something. I wanted to make a classic set of portraits. I thought that the women should look strong but natural and I decided to keep it a very simple exercise of shooting in the studio. This calendar is so completely different. It is a departure. The idea was not to have any pretense in these pictures and be very straightforward,” Leibovitz said in a statement.
The calendar will be presented at the Roundhouse in London on Nov. 30, where both Amy and Serena look beautiful in robes. In another shot, Serena is stripped down to just her briefs as she poses topless with her back to the camera. Along with Amy and Serena, this year’s calendar will also include Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Fran Lebowitz, Natalia Vodianova, Kathleen Kennedy, and many more esteemed females.
